How every number is computed
- Your fund: on the start day the amount is split by your weights and each slice buys at that day's adjusted close. It's bought once and never rebalanced — winners grow into bigger slices. Adjusted prices include splits and reinvested dividends.
- Start day: the first trading day on or after your date when every holding has a price. If one started trading later (say a 2021 IPO), the whole fund starts that day, and we say so.
- Calendar: US trading days. Crypto trades every day, so its weekend moves show up on Monday.
- S&P 500: the same amount in SPY on the same day. Savings: compounding daily at the effective Fed funds rate (FRED DFF). Inflation: scaled by CPI (FRED CPIAUCSL) — what you'd need just to stand still.
- No taxes, fees or trading costs. The same link always gives the same answer.
